Tegucigalpa, May 26 (Prensa Latina) Former Honduran President Manuel Zelaya said he would return to his country for the rest of his life, in a message released by his supporters on the Internet.
“I return to my homeland on Saturday, May 28, noy for a week or 24 hours as it has been erroneously stated, but for the rest of my life,” Zelaya wrote in the message he issued Wednesday to clear up any doubts about his stay in Honduras.
The former Honduran president added that he was not afraid of the danger and adversities he would face, even though his return was guaranteed by an agreement signed with President Porfirio Lobo.
After his scheduled arrival at Toncotin International Airport on Saturday at 11 a.m., Zelaya is set to take part in a welcome ceremony organized by the National Popular Resistance Front (FNRP)in Isy Obed Murillo Square, south of the airport.
Zelaya has been living in the Dominican Republic for over a year, and is returning home after about two years through the National Reconciliation and Democracy Agreement he signed, along with current Honduran President Porfirio Lobo, with the mediation of Venezuela and Colombia.
