Damascus, Oct 26 (Prensa Latina) More than one million people on Wednesday rallied at the Umayyad Square in the traditional Family Tree Festival, to express support to President Bashar al-Assad and his government.

Under the slogan “Long Live the Homeland and its Leaders, Syrian People Are One Family,” participants in the demonstration raised a 500-meter long family tree with a photo of President Al-Assad in the center.

The mass rally, which also voiced support to the reform program begun by the government and thanked the countries which have supported Syria in face of the vicious campaign to which it is subject, also included a musical gala.

Not only Damascus rallied on occasion of the Family Tree Day. SANA news agency reported that in Hasaka, some 595 kilometers (370 miles) from the capital, huge masses of citizens gathered at the President Square, supporting national independence and rejecting all forms of foreign interference.

Last week, Aleppo, the country’s most populated city, was the stage of a giant demonstration, as was Damascus 15 days ago, all of them in support of the government of President al-Assad.
