Angola to Open Embassy in Venezuela by End of Year

Luanda – The Angolan embassy in Venezuela will be opened at the end of this year, with the implementation of a bilateral commission to explore strategic areas for development.

This information was released Wednesday, in Luanda, by the counsellor minister of the Venezuelan embassy to Angola, Jesus Garcia.

The diplomat made the announcement while speaking on bilateral relations between the two countries and Venezuelan views on political instability across the world in the context of the 66th session of the UN General Assembly.

He also said that, by opening the diplomatic representation, conditions will be created to strengthen relations with Venezuela, adding that it his country is to become a reference point for all South American nations.

Speaking on cooperation ties between both countries, Jesus Garcia said they are at advanced levels, considering the fact that three legal instruments were signed recently, including a political understanding memorandum, in addition to agreements for strategic and technical areas.

The ambassador said that both countries want to assume similar positions in the international organization (UN), so as to develope cooperation in the areas of culture, communication and technology.

He also affirmed that great bilateral cooperation now exists in the oil sector, the result of Sonangol, an Angolan oil company, buying two oil reserve blocks in Venezuela, a country with the greatest oil reserves in the world.
