June 26, 2011“In a month time the FNRP will hold a new Extraordinary Assembly to compose its statutes and create an official new name. Collection of signatures will start in order to register as a political institution; the Broad-Base Front. The self-convened process agreed during last February subjugates to this new scheme and the FNRP will demand a Constituent Assembly possibly through the use of a plebiscite”. Tegucigalpa. June 26, 2011. On Sunday the Extraordinary National Assembly of the People’s National Resistance Front approved almost unanimously the creation of a broad-base political front that allows the participation of the resistance in the next elections of 2013.
After debating, discussing and approving the repeal of the agreement No.2 of the National Assembly of last February, which prevented the FNRP from participation in elections, Juan Barahona, the FNRP Deputy Coordinator introduced the motion for the creation of a political tool.
The discussion was based on the views expressed as to whether the conditions were met to participate in the forthcoming general elections of 2013, including allegations that these conditions had not been met yet and those who, in turn, declare that the return to the country of General Coordinator, Manuel Zelaya, opens the doors to create those conditions and achieve seize of power from the oligarchy in 2013.
After the discussion, voting on the Barahona proposal took place; the Assembly almost unanimously approved the creation of the broad-base front of political struggle for the coming elections of 2013 and commanded its creation to the FNRP’s National Coordination.
